Falling Film Absorber System Product Overview
Our falling film absorber system combines a vertical absorption column with a dedicated lower recirculation vessel to form a complete, skid-mounted gas-liquid contacting unit. Gas enters the tower and flows counter-currently or co-currently against a uniformly distributed liquid film that runs down the column wall. This film configuration creates a large interfacial area with minimal liquid hold-up, enabling rapid mass transfer and high removal rates for highly soluble contaminants.
The recirculation tank positioned beneath the tower serves multiple functions: it collects the spent absorbing liquid, provides residence time for heat dissipation and reaction, and returns conditioned liquor to the top distribution system via a corrosion-resistant pump. Depending on the application, the system can be supplied with PP, PPH, FRP or PVC construction, with optional cooling coils, pH control ports and secondary scrubbing stages.
How the Falling Film Absorption Process Works
In operation, contaminated gas is introduced into the falling film absorber while absorbing liquid is distributed evenly across the top internal surface. The liquid descends as a thin film along the tower wall, continuously contacting the gas stream. Soluble pollutants migrate from the gas phase into the liquid phase and are carried down into the recirculation tank. The treated gas exits from the upper section, and the enriched liquid is either recirculated after conditioning or drawn off for further treatment or product recovery.
